Does this line of thinking apply to any and all family businesses? The child that walks into the family business is rewarded and those that go off into the world are penalized? This may explain a lot of things though.
Did someone hurt you somewhere in your past? Most children don't walk into a family business. They start at the bottom and work their way up, more than likely producing more than they are paid. The ones that go off in the world most likely made their own choices. Working together in a family business is a huge blessing to the older generation in the business. I do think it is a responsibility for the older generation to be flexible and willing to invest in the business to include everyone child that wants to work hard and be included. If a child doesn't want to participate, they aren't entitled to the same treatment as the children that did. |
