SW MN | I don't know how we sound the alarm bells on all these Data Centers and their extreme cost of natural resources (especially water) and electricity to function. They are supposed to make our lives better supposedly, but to be honest, it will just allow big business to shutter more jobs, and create more people dependent on the government for their existence in my opinion. I think we are fooling ourselves with the "need" for AI. I mean, we probably have all watched the Terminator, and the Matrix, and it just blows my mind we are ignoring the oncoming train.
I don't want more regulation per say but it's kind of the wild west right now for AI, and everyone is trying to get it done.
I just came back from a trip out of country, and I didn't need to show my passport to re-enter the USA. I just had to stand there, and they scanned my face and said welcome back! They are using digital face recognition software to know who we are. It reminds me of the movie Enemy of the State.
We are so screwed and we don't even know it. We are pissed at each other over the crumbs left for us by the uber elite...
