The proper solution would be to speed up the immigration process to allow for more legal immigration. This could have been done with the bipartisan bill placed forth in 2024, but was struck down after Trump did not to give Biden a win.

The strength of a country closely follows the age distribution of its population. If no immigration were to occur, USA would follow the path of Japan and some European countries. In those countries the aging population is supported by an ever decreasing younger population. This is not sustainable. Immigration allows for an influx of young families that drive the economy.
