UP / Thumb of Michigan
30+ years ago, myself and a friend went to Grand Forks for the Sugar Beet show. We were fortunate to get a room very close, blizzard coming in that night. We were sitting in the hotel bar with a group of guys I'd met a couple years previously, and we were having a heck of a good time. Noticed a guy in the corner sitting by himself. Invited him over, see if he could add to the BS. He was from almost to Canada, don't recall what town. Anyway, asked him how things were back home. He said dry. Really dry. Went on for quite some time about how dry it really was. I was actually having trouble buying into his version of dry- until he said he had a 3 year old son at home who'd never seen a rain drop. I thought I understood what dry was, I wasn't even close.
