| Damian Mason talks to Marc Severson on bigger farms would solve "the problem" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFnJDkzuTp0
I can`t argue with any of their logic, even though I don`t like it, but the truth is the truth. Marc gives the analogy of farm programs like a sinking ship, the good swimmers are they only ones surviving, if a life preserver is thrown out then everybody survives, which exacerbates "the problem". technically true, however I sort of argue for continued programs in the time being to allow us "useless eaters" to exit on our own terms and come to that conclusion with dignity. i`m 61, own land I farm and no debt, so i`ll ride this pony as long as the elevator takes my grain, also fortunately none of my kids want to farm.
one interesting case Marc makes (of a few) is that the quicker that consolidation happens, the less chance crops go the chicken & hog model of vertical integration would be. | |
