Nebraska aka the boondocks | It’s never too early to talk about drought in areas that don’t receive enough rain to make a crop without irrigation. We haven’t had moisture since October. No snow in the mountains , thus no runoff for surface flow irrigation, or rather, not enough. This has been the warmest winter on record, so that is analogous to 2006, which was dry. But….. you go east north and south and east 200 miles, and it seems they are not concerned. I don’t think predicting that the Nebraska dryland crop won’t be a record is much of a stretch. |
