I’m with you. The author of the article summarized the dilemma and the “connection” emotion that all the heirs of the trust had for the farm. The 1 brother that was thinking about selling his “share” changed his mind and didn’t want to. The oldest /farmer told the siblings he has 2 years left.

I think the biggest legacy of farming is NOT dirt….. it is the values and work ethic that are instilled in the succeeding generation. All 5 siblings /current heirs of the trust appeared to have done well in work/life. The current brother farming has 2 offspring making (maybe assuming here) a very good living in career/corporate positions.

The farm “turned out” better replacements than it started with. In this farm’s case, that is what “true legacy” is all about.
