Subject: RE: Do farmers get subsidized crop insurance?

n. Illinois
The Farmer only pays a portion of the Premium that is necessary to keep the program at a loss ratio of 1:1 IE never makes money. No Insurance company would ever take on the risk associated with the Federal Crop Insurance program as they could never make money doing it. So just because you don't see a check doesn't mean your not subsidized. For corn at 80-85% RP the subsidy is between 64-69% IE your only paying 1/3 of the cost. The ECO program has a subsidy for 2026 at 80% up from 65% in 2025 that is why there is such a push to get everyone educated on that. IE its a lot cheaper than last year.
