Your first paragraph is what a majority of people choose to ignore. They like to pretend that all of the production of the emission items are done with zero environmental impact. Wind towers and solar can all be lumped in to the same equation. Does it even get back to a net zero?
Plus battery powered cars...
The difference is the emissions are moved AWAY from where they can see it, or have to care about it.
China and India have negated basically ALL progress the West has made on reducing emissions in the past 25 years. They are pumping out more every year, and we are crippling ourselves financially to save the planet. Don't get me wrong, I want to make sure we are going to have clean air for my son and hopefully grandchildren...but if 1/4 of the global population is trying to clean up for 3/4, it's never going to make a dent!
