Subject: RE: Case International 1680 And Gleaner R-62 and R-72 Question

SE North Dakota
I guess I am more partial to the Gleaners. I would look for an early R-65 or R-75 like 03-06. Combine is the same as later model 62-72s except you get the newer cab which is a plus. The AC never worked very well in the 2 series. Still get the Cummins engine. The Cummins M11 is in the 75s which is a nice sounding engine. The gleaner’s serviceability is pretty simple. Not much hidden stuff. Can do a lot of work from the ground or access from the hopper. Been around 1680s also and can feel a little under powered. More gear boxes and I can count on one hand how many times we have replaced rotor belts over the 30 years we been running Gleaners . I know the red guys can’t say that about 1680s. For whatever reason they have to keep a spare in the engine compartment. Not trying to bash the red ones they are a simple machine also. I just am more partial to the Gleaners.
