If you must tow it for a very short distance, you need to neutralize the hydrostatic drive:
Release Parking Brake: Ensure the parking brake is released (if equipped with a mechanical release, use it).
Crack the Motor Hoses: To prevent destroying the hydrostatic drive motors, you can loosen the hydraulic hoses at the drive motors to allow the oil to bypass. Caution: This will spill hydraulic oil.
Disengage Drive Chains: A more labor-intensive but safer method is to remove the side covers and unhook the drive chains, which physically disconnects the wheels from the motors.
3. Emergency Towing
Pull Slowly: If you must drag it, use a strong towing vehicle, but do so very slowly and for the shortest distance possible (300 feet or less) to minimize damage.
Check for Towing Hooks: Use designated tow hooks for pulling (refer to the service manual for location).
