I have fixed ground that bad. It took 15' spaced tile, 3 tons of gypsum deep ripped in and about 6 years before we took a crop worth a damn off of it. Humic is a waste in my opinion. You need to address the sodium and magnesium problem. The gypsum flushes that out through the tile over time. I didn't implement cover crops then but if I did it all over again I would take it out of production for 4 years keeping some covers growing on it that whole time. Ive often thought of inline ripping with straight shank in the middle of the cover crop so the roots can break through the hard pan faster and easier and allow water through faster.
