SW MN
Lots of good advice above!! I'll add my latest thought., in 2011 I rebuilt my drying setup, new dryer, large 70k bu bin. Had one 22k bin and 6500 bu wet capacity. Sold all smaller bins. 1ph power. Added air system to move corn from dryer to bins. ph convertor to run dryer and air system. 2 years ago add. 50k bin. I have a drive over dump into auger thats driven by tractor PTO Now I look at my real-estate taxes, Holy crap, public officials think we have gold out here. And are just sticking to us on property taxes. My local GOP state legislator told me someone has to pay for all the FREE SSST they hand out.. I TOLD HIM ALL THIS FREE SSST HAS TO STOP..
So consider your ROI on this grain setup! Use realistic numbers add in RE taxes, Insurance! Yearly maintenance. It has to pay for itself... consider your age, and future farmers to take over.. that's my .02 Biggest issue around here is available fall help... truck drivers are getting 40.00 hr/cash.
