Subject: RE: Fertilizer placement in no till?

Redwood Falls, MN
We band our fertilizer with a Yetter Magnum 10,000 unit on 30" spacing for our corn. It is very low disturbance and opens a slot that the fertilizer is blow in and then covers it back up. We use it in the fall and apply our P, K and sometimes N with it. The fertilizer is placed about 4" deep and we plant right on top of that in the spring. I added the row cleaners to clear out residue to create a darker strip so it warms up better in the spring vs no row cleaner, but that likely isn't an issue in North Carolina. I can lift them up and you can hardly see where it's been. Been really happy with it and have reduced rates compared to broadcast and helps keep my soil in place.
