| I can tell you have alot of ideas bouncing around in your head, trying to figure this all out at once. First of all, you're used to throwing 16% corn into a bag and walking away. Putting 21-25% corn into a 100,000 + bu bin as fast as you can and thinking you won't have problems is dreaming. (putting in too much at once, grain not level for even airflow, knowing when you are safe to add more...)
You mentioned putting up a smaller leg, then replacing it with a bigger one. I believe in doing it once, the correct way, and not having to throw more money at it a second time.
How about a surge bin/ wet bin? Put up a 40-50,000 bu bin with a short 10,000 bph leg for wet corn. You could add in a dryer now, or have a spot to add it later. Then put in a 2,000 bph pneumatic system to blow corn into your storage bins. As you add bins, you only need to add a pipe to each new bin. If you want to air dry corn, all you do is switch to a different pipe, much easier than moving a monster auger each day! As a bonus, when something breaks, all of this stuff is alot closer to the ground. Another bonus is that since it's all electric, most of it can be automated. | |
