Subject: RE: Bin site: Is drying with propane really that bad?

I have a neighbor who has said that to me several times. In my mind I have been thinking I would have an office at the bin site and whenever I had office work to do I would be at the bin site. If lots of trucks are coming to pick grain up or deliver grain I would think that would work OK.

But it would be better if it were really close to home. For maybe $250K to $350K I could run 3 phase from site 1 to my home base. The disadvantage is that some years there will be weeks on end where we could not haul out and there would be quite a few days where we would need to haul an extra 6 miles to haul to the buyer because there is a 1 mile stretch that doesn’t even have gravel on it.

Lots of truck drivers don’t like that 1 mile stretch even when it’s dry (I don’t mind when I’m driving the truck) so lots of them might go the extra 6 miles every time.
