west-byGod-Pa.		Wrong: it not just greed. There are so many factors I will not be able to touch on all of them.
(1) the local hardware must be hooked up with a cooperative-or some sort of a wholesaler, because they cannot buy direct from manufacturers. This adds -not just another layer of profit-taking, but cost: another layer of governmental taxation, insurance, distribution & storage costs. Home Depot buys direct from Chinese manufacturers-and forces U.S. companies to send manufacturing to China. Local or regional distributors cannot compete on that scale. Once H.D. Has the market, they control it.
Grocery stores operate on a profit margin of 1-2%.
Many businesses are squeezed. No one has a good handle on how much of this economy is consumed by taxes. Taxes do not add to the economy-they take from it.
I need to post more, but I must leave to tend to other business.
