There is an old shutdown nuclear power plant in eastern Iowa that is being resurrected with a goal of power production by 2027. It was slated for shutdown in the early 2020s but was shut down a year or so early due to damage to its cooling systems by a derecho. There was a time that plant was producing 9% of the electricity needed in Iowa.
