Northeast Missouri | New one (to me) I heard this week, on a group of heifers "These are THE lady bugs!"
And a stupid one on a group of Red Angus steers (mine!) "They're the wrong color, but look at the quality! ...and hair like a bear!" In fact, every group of reds run into the ring was called "the wrong color" by this auctioneer.
All of the silly auctioneer banter is just part of the "show" of an auction--all aimed at characterizing cattle in the most favorable light. None of it really means anything, nor likely affects the final bid price. But when *any* of it swerves into slightly negative territory it makes me grind my teeth. |
