I definitely believe that machinery and seed technologies will continue to increase yield. Acres will be down from this year as I just don't see much corn on corn happening. We just don't have 8 feet of black soil for corn on corn. Wheat acres and pasture will continue to find its way into row crops. Statistically, one of these years, weather will slap us up along the side of the head to remind us we are not in Iowa, but I am certainly enjoying the last five years minus 2021 for me. I would bet the trend line yield slope is steeper for South Dakota than the nation. Bottom line---I wish I would have bought more land when we were mostly cattle and wheat.
