We keep it very simple and just use a 2' plastic stick and drop it down center of row on 30" spacing. We have tried the Y drops and just did not like all the mods to the boom. We have done it this way for 10 years or more and yes it does burn the corn. Looks kinda tough for a week or so but we believe little to no damage. We put from 20-40 gpa on.
