Subject: RE: 19.5 Billion

I leased a Hyundai Ioniq for a year out of curiosity and because they had a very cheap lease deal at the end of last year. It is a much better driving experience than internal combustion vehicles. There's just no arguing that. I wouldn't want it as my only vehicle, and I wouldn't want it in heavy duty applications, but for just running around within 50ish miles of home (most of my driving), it's absolutely better. It is quieter, smoother, accelerates better, cheaper to charge than gas (I only charge at home), less maintenance. I plug it in when I get home and it's full the next morning. Longevity of the battery would be the big concern. I've had many friends who drive diesel pickups as their primary vehicle take it for a spin and every one has been surprised/impressed.

There's still a lot to figure out on the infrastructure/battery side I think. But they aren't going away, with or without subsidies. And all indications are that American evs are miles behind Chinese. Which is why they won't allow them into the US.
