I take it you were the buyer not the seller of the lost farm. I don't know how old you are. If there was one thing I learned form the 80's is get your interset rate locked in for the the term of the loan. If you look at commodity charts you can't pick out a bottom in the charts. But you can sure pick out a peak in the interest rates. It drives me nuts when farmers brag about their cheap floating interest rates and the money they save. Pay the premium and get the rates fixed for as long as possible. Paying extra interest to have rates locked in is like buying insurance.
