| I am guilty of lumping.
I think medicare has a lifetime limit. I had medical POA of a relative and recall something to that effect. One thing surprised me when relative was placed in nursing home. Was asked if CPR should be used if necessary, I thought of course (too much TV!), but the reality for the elderly is ribs are going to be broke and a lot of pain for what could be very little gain. Much later I followed the wishes of the relative when the decision arose again in the hospital.
Following I think is correct, but not going to verify now.
I think Oregon had a plan to not pay for operations that showed little benefit compared to cost. I think it got shut down. Most medical expense occurs in last few months of life. Is that expense justified?
Should there be a cost/benefit analysis of Medicare/Medicaid expenses? | |
