But…..Petroleum refineries currently in operation in the United States occupy a combined area of approximately 232 square miles (over 149,000 acres).
No refining needed for solar.
Not sure where you are going with this but you can build a refinery where ever you want, usually near an export market, like the Canadian border or an ocean, or occasionally a river.
To get there you build a pipeline underground which can usually go decades without issue and no surface disruption aside from the initial construction.
And as said by the other commentor, there's more solar than refineries, yet those refineries do more than solar ever will. |
