Hooker Twp,Ne | I use to flood irrigate appr 70 acres with one 200 gpm well and a 150gpm well. If you want to not waste water you will need to count rows with red flags at top and bottom. I’d check them at least twice daily. There was a small pond on the property and I made it larger. Also added a second pond. Fixed it up with underground pipe to feed the ponds and now have two pivots. One does 133 acres on a quarter and the other where the ponds are located does approximately 100 acres. Half corn,half beans. As long as I can get a little help from above I can raise decent irrigated crops. Years I have decent subsoil I push the population a bit more then dry springs. However 33,000 is tops. Also no till to conserve moisture.
