Soil moisture sensors will help if you know what they are telling you. It will take some experience to know what they are indicating.
I failed to mention in my earlier post that the MO Extension Service may have an Ag Engineer who can be of assistance. The AR Extension software can help with a lot of the calculations.
Pumping water is the easy part of irrigating a crop.
