Like most of us on here land is my life. I also have 2 boys farming. Was blessed to be able to build a new house 10 years ago, something I never thought we would have the opportunity to do. Yesterday got in the gator and drove around a few of the snow covered farms, put me in a better mood. Besides my 50 hp tractor with cab have no attachments to any machinery or vehicles on the farm. So like many on here the life’s goal has been to purchase the next farm, hard to change when that has been the sole goal for almost 45 years. (Bought my first farm as a pre-teen)
Buy yes am wondering how smart it is anymore.
And when you are gone, who will carry that torch the same? Know any pre-teens stepping in?
Bottom line is, your farm is not your legacy and someone else will be farming that land you toil over today, eventually. There will be no statues of you there left to admire. |
