Central PA | alot of farmers are mining their soils without knowing it, (not excluding myself). if prairie soils were 8+% OM before the west was settled and they are now 2%, thats mining that will eventually bankrupt the farm, at least if not now for future generations. here in the east, woodland with high OM was cleared, now often 2% or less. thats mining off a previous bank account. should we or the gov incentivise a reversal of this trend? if we are not gaining, but loosing OM, we are depleating a resource. this is not regenerative.
can we regenerate without going broke? | |
