Yes we are free to do what we wish with our acres.. However most people will choose what is the least risk and most profitable...which is usually government insured and gifted corn and beans, not cattle.

The Ag industry (the ones with high-paid lobbyists) like high priced corn and beans and low cost cattle so that's what ends up being government policy.
