| One reason given is because of crop insurance. In the last 25 years we have seen the demise of the small family dairy farm , 30-70 cows, for a number of reasons and the birth of large cash crop operations from 1000 to 5000 acres and even some in the 20-30,000 acre size. So hpothetically speaking if there never was crop insurance, CRP and other FSA ptograms would the guys that are now cash croppers have kept some animals in the mix in order to keep some diversity in the operatrion? If so what percentage of farmers do you think? What affect would that have had on rental rates for crop land? | |
