I've picked a couple elderly neighbor farmers off the floor of the floor of their shop when they missed the tall stool they were planning on sitting on but they were physically able to help somewhat. But the memorable one was the time my mother in law called for help getting my father in law out of the car after she brought him home from dialysis. He weighed probably 240 or 250 and was sitting in the passenger seat totally wiped out, slumped like he was dead. Tommy you are trained for this and have probably done this multiple times but this was a first for me. Lifting him out of that car and getting him into the wheelchair alone was quite a task. It was like lifting a limp lifeless body. I was so afraid of dropping him. It worked out OK in the end but it was memorable for me.
tough for anyone alone , and yes i have done it alone . Bigger woman , i got her daughter to help . I could almost get it done , get her almost in wheel chair and be just a little short. My mutual assist crew was at least 20 miles away . Poor lady was very scared i was going to drop her .
Heck , i was too . |
