I think you ND boys need to hit the training room or something if you can't get them tight by hand.  Every filter I've tighten by hand I've had to use a wrench to get them back off even lubricating the gasket like the directions say to.  Only time I have used a wrench is on the big oil filters for the C-15 cats.  Course I and others on here are smart enough to keep turning the filter after the gasket contacts the base another 1/2-3/4 turn like the directions say to.

And I thank you for your wonderful expert opinion. Which is all it is. I have seen more filters come loose in my lifetime from being too loose than having trouble getting one off from being too tight. And no they were not loose from me because I snug them up with a wrench. Would much rather have trouble getting a filter off than one coming loose and something catastrophic happening. It’s all everyone’s opinions but I know what can happen when you have a filter drop off on a highway. No different than guys not getting drain plugs tight. Lol. I love how everyone knows their way is the right way. Right or wrong. I am the same way. Lol
