When I have cash in the account, it drives me crazy. I am so used to operating on someone elses money that cash in an account that is tied to internet banking seems like a risk I don't want. Could move it to a more secure account obviously, but usually there is someone willing to pay for my business by offering me a bigger discount today than interest is going to cost me, so I rarely sit on cash. I will make loan payments a bit early and things like that, but currently, paying down debt beyond the next payment makes no financial sense. We used to use surplus cash to pay off or pay down our highest interest loan figuring we could always get a loan for any future need that might come up at cheaper interest. Those days are gone for awhile.

To me, the only way the cd makes sense is if you don't trust your ability to not borrow more than you can pay back.
