We are a very long way from that stuff to be trusted .
Hair thin wires , junk controllers from china and junk sensors .
Could we do that with USA parts , yes i think we could . It wont be that it will be china junk from lowest bidder .
Before you folks flame me , i was at JB when this started .
I was one of the first installers of our qualcomm system .
We could do it , not with junk though .
Think “ sensor bad “ and you will understand
We've already had a number of years where tractors and sprayers have had automatic headland turnaround. So once the operator sets the perimeter and starts the pattern for the rest of the field, he's a weight to maintain a seat switch. The only thing automation at this point is adding is the presence of the operator.
We have had wires connecting the operator to the machine for decades now. Meaning tractors with no clutch cables. Tractors with no direct connection from steering wheel to hydraulic valve..
For a number of years now when the tractor throws a code, the service manager and the farmer get an email alert, The owner can pull up on their phone or tablet or desktop wherever they're at and see how the tractor is running with an employee.
The only thing that changes on a modern tractor is that you now have cameras in the computer to do the visual.
