No apologies need, I respect you responding to DB and myself. I did it to myself. I take 100% responsibility for weight gain. I was never a person to grab sugar and put on foods. I got my sugar from fruits. I agree candy and pop and carbs puts the weight on. I never even been a person to put dressings on salads. I love salads just plain. You can't belive the look I get from every waitress when I tell them no salad dressing. I don't even like much in condiments. Very little salt and pepper even. Don't even use much butter, my wife thinks I'm weird.

I agree push away from table. Worst thing a family is not having meals together early in evening l. Then getting up and doing some work after. My bad habits of ranching and dairy worked 18-20 hours a day. Then would eat late at night, too big of meals. Went through a phase of soda pop, worst thing ever. All that sugar was wasted calories that put weight on.

Candy was also down fall, my wife always had treats around. I tried all the diets, the all meat stuff got real old real quick. One thing about the GLP-1 shots it turns your life around. We throw candy away, bread away. If I eat much sugar at all it makes me sick.

Someone commented on people in city are healthy. Well yes most are in today's world. See they make plenty of money, home at a decent hour. So meal and then go ride bikes, go the gym. I tell you one thing I miss the most was being able to swim everyday. I would love to get up and go swim laps in morning for 1/2 hour. However for me to do that would take 40 minute drive one way.

My gym experience on farm was changing irrigation water using siphon tubes. We use 6" and 4" aluminum tubes, pack those around in mud in grain and alfalfa all summer long from April to September doing 3-4 streams 3 times a day, every 8 hours. Didn't need a gym membership. Over time it wears your body out. I guess when we switch and go to pivots we can then get a gym membership and drive 40 minutes to work out listening to Ipods.

A lot of the factor of weight gain is genetic as well. When people say no that doesn't matter, B.S. Just look at livestock, dont we breed cattle for size? Same thing happens in humans, genetics play a factor.
