| This is not a direct answer to your question but it will give you an idea of what your in for. About 3 years ago I bought a 1967 jd 5020
It ran good but shifted hard and the steering motor needed to be rebuilt. I knew where the problem was with the shifting and I had a friend that would rebuild the steering. I took the hood to the body shop. We used j d paint and primer and used harder and clear coat
I did the rest. I changed the tire from 18 to 20.8x38. The tractor looks and runs great. It's what ive always wanted. But now that the transmission linkage is cleaned out it falls out of gear in first and 3rd 2nd 5 and 4th and 7th when it's costing. I guess what I'm trying to say is I now have 17,000 in it and it needs more work. Im 77 years old i really don't plan on getting rid of it but I'll probably never get my money out of it. Unless you just want something to do your probably better off spending the money on something that's ready for the parade | |
