Colby, KS | I'm a knife guy and have dozens of knives. From chinese copycat junk to Spyderco. My favorite day-in-and-day out is a Buck Spitfire 722. It is not spring assist, but is a traditional back lock with enough mass in the scales to snap open. My second favorite all time was a Spyderco Stretch2. But it had high-end ZDP189 steel which I found out is too brittle for abusive work and snapped the tip off and it wasn't covered under warranty. FWIW, my favorite spring assist is a Boker Kalashnikov drop point. It is a button lock. I don't really trust button locks or axis locks unless well maintained. And inexpensive liner locks get weak over time. I will not carry a liner lock for daily use, but maybe that's just me. It seems the rest of the world loves them. Really, for daily use, especially by someone who is likely to abuse or minimally-maintain a knife, I'd recommend a standard back lock with metal or G10 scales.
