| Seems like everywhere you go, everyone is overweight or obese. Co op, farm show, Wal mart. Was looking at photos of farm events from the 70s, 80s, and even the 90s. Seems like there were no overweight people and the young kids had a look on their face like they at least were aware what a hard days work looked like. Seems like today's kids know the buddy seat or the ipad.
Went into the city a few months ago and there seemed to be less over conditioned folks in the city than the country side which is interesting because cities had a higher incidence of obesity than rural areas. I guess it's progress that we can be this productive and this out of shape. The in shape older folks had a pride that came with physically moving things and being able to buzz around quickly. Think they looked down their nose at folks who couldnt climb silos, shovel bins, walk fields, work on an empty stomach, stack hay, glue together heavy parts. Seems like a lot of folks on today's farms don't like to move around and would keel over if they had to do things by hand again. Even some of the Amish are getting fat. Seems like once they get the Mountain Dew and junk food, they don't know when to stop and it becomes like the cow that found the corn pile.
Anywho seemed like the older folks had higher testosterone levels as well. Guess just wanted to ask if anyone remembers this time and misses it because it seems to be long gone and never coming back. | |
