Buddy of mine who is fulltime deisel mechanic told me the cummins engine head gasket job is a 10k dollar job roughly and the paccar is around 30k for same thing. I bought the x15 Cummins.
And then guys come on here and complain about a Cat costing $30k to rebuild!! A head gasket job costing $30k I have trouble believing, but what would I know? I do know I'm not planning to own a Paccar anytime soon. I'll keep fixing our Cat if it needs it.
A buddy of mine had a 2WS Cat blow a headgasket. We had the counterbores cut, new sleeves, rings, and bearings. Rods reconditioned, head planed and checked out for any other issues. Injectors checked, turbo had recently been replaced. Cam looked good. Less than $10k later it was back on the road. Should run a long time, no emissions garbage either. Oh, and by the way, it laid 690 hp to the ground on the dyno after the rebuild.
Yeah, I'll keep fixing on my Cats. |
