The biggest problem is that the best genetics are not always available in non GMO. A guy can get fixated on saving $35-40 on seed and not even realize the bushels that are being given up.
And yes there are still corn borers out there.

It’s 73$ an acre savings.

Full rate Insecticide infurrow is now under $3 an acre.

Im told all genetics start as conventional.

Maybe Someday It’ll bite me. Been almost 15 years of savings.

Ccs planters provide super easy side by side test plots…….

I owe these folks a debt of gratitude.

It is not $73 here, IF you are comparing apples to apples. The group I get most of my seed through has a price list for 5 companies. Comparing same genetics non GMO vs above ground traited averages LESS than $40 per acre at 34k population.
Additionally, last year I planted seed from 2 other companies that fall in the same price differential range.

There is a LOT more to corn hybrids than the trait package, comparing Rural King corn to 1742Q or 68-35 is not honesty and anyone who does is trying to sell something. The major companies are advancing traited products through research not conventional.
If you actually have root worms, your bifenthrin in furrow is not doing much if anything.
