Central ND | I've been to NDFA fire school 8 of the last 10 years, taken many classes on building construction, size-up, interior attack, reading smoke, and go/no go. They've shown countless videos of fires like that, and worse. It really is amazing what a 5-7 minute response time and considerable experience with structure fires can lead to. Us guys out here in rural America, however, are pretty much behind the 8-ball every time though, unless the call comes in on the second Monday of the month at about 7:45 pm. Structures in the last 25 years are pretty much a gas can waiting to explode. A fire can literally go from room and contents to fully involved in less than 10 minutes. We usually can't have a truck rolling out the door quicker than that, there are only about 5 of us that live in town. | |
