If the old t12s are bothering your opener then assume you have newer style electronic ballasts. Getting rid of them would be a good idea. I cant say for sure what lights to buy to replace with as they could also produce a harmonic that interferes. When you replace could you rewire and have half the lights on when your out so it will produce less electromagnetic interference and therefore increase the odds of the opener working. When you upgrade lights pay attention to proper grounding and any shielding on your new lights.

I have two openers in my shed. One works from quarter mile away the other barely from 100 foot away… same remote. Its maddening so I understand your frustration.
