NW IL
With your "rent" $, how much will be actually spent in the local community & provide jobs, etc, & not just "buy out" someone?

If this is such a "good" thing, have you ever thought why the companies themselves do not buy the land. With most of the per acre rents I've seen, they could buy the land in 5 years. Not a bad ROI. What are they afraid of that they're not telling?

Yes, I'm concerned of a fire. If there is, I'm sure we'd have to evacuate if we're prompted in time. I would not build by an industrial plant (nor did I, they moved in), but that's not where these are going. Lots of vacant/abandoned buildings/warehouses in the suburbs that should be ideal for this, but none there (that I know of). Already paved, close to where kW could be used.-. None of these are economically feasible without taxpayer $ either. Compare what tax dollars (federal) we pay that will subsidize these & see what actually helps the LOCAL community.

I have no iron in the fire on this other than being involved as a neighbor. I'd rather at this point see a solar farm than a subdivision. I just wonder how we'll see this play out in 10-15 years, let alone 20 or 30.
There is a larger (3000+ acre) project that's all approved not too far away to go in, but they aren't starting until they can get approval to hook into the grid. Have been waiting for over a year. County has tripled their zoning/oversightpersonel already. Have windmills up in the county for over 10 years, but only 2? solar that are actually constructed & operational. Rest all in permitting.

Hope it turns out well for you!
