NW IL | In IL I believe they have 7 or 10 years to fully post the decommisioning bond. What happens in year 3 when it's been resold 6 times & they don't make it, maybe because they are trying to build 8 more sites?
Yes taxes go local, but how much of that actually helps the community? I can just see the local government getting bloated. They see it as a windfall, schools included.
Sound close to "I'm from the government & I'm here to help you!"
Have a 50 ac project going up right across from our house. I'm not overly in favor of zoning telling property owners what they can do, but the governor in IL proclaimed you can't stop a solar farm siting, regardless. Counties have no say where. I'm more conserned about future fire/pollution issues, some we dont know about (or aren't admitted). Is very hard to put out an electric car (battery) fire; how are they going to put out a large arry's battery unit fire?
edit -
what about the lost jobs & money that flowed out of those acres - seed corn dealers, fertilizer & machinery dealers, grain truck drivers, etc. It all isn't a plus.
