Took a load of corn to River terminal late yesterday. Ticket shows moisture 12.2% ,56% damage & 12.3 foreign mat., broken kernels 12.3 Corn is clean and about as good as you can get. Out of bin. Took 2 samples this morning one out of top and other thru auger to local elevator this morning. 14 % and 14.2% (which is what i think it is) they said it looks great, show them copy of ticket and they said what the #@#@, that cant' be.
Moisture isn't a big deal, but other stuff is crazy! I'd say 56% is impossible!
Called terminal this morning. Said they have to keep sample 5 days. Said they would retest. called again a few times later this morning, but still no answer just claim to be retesting.
How do you protest a grain sample taken at a river
terminal?
Can we ask to see sample in person they claim to be holding?
Thanks, John

Have had issues a couple times over the years in various places there. Usually contact merchandiser we deal with and they request it to be regraded, at that point see what it comes back that time and then have it sent off to fed/state if needed. Think almost every time came back in line with expectations with just having it “rechecked” in house.
