| The commercial panels used here and made in the USA do not contain any hazardous materials that can leach from the panels onto the ground because they do not contain any. For the transisition of sunlight to electrical energy, these panel use silicon (sand) a natural and abundant material. These panels are designed to withstand hail storms without shattering. The slim panels used in housing do however contain a small amount of a hazardous material called cadmium. As a side note. All envirormental agencies in Michigan support the construction of these panels and have strict procedures in place for them. One is the type of cover crop that must be applied.
