Milford, IL | Retiree benefits are hurting the USPS and will eventually kill it. This is a foregone conclusion, there is no way operating revenue can overcome the burden of retiree benefit expenses.
As you noted performance is terrible (especially at sorting centers, local employees here are great). The decision by Amazon to get into the package delivery business had a ripple effect - UPS handles less AMZN deliveries, UPS gets very competetive in the light weight, smaller parcel market, USPS revenue declines further. The men and women at our local office are the best but I don't see a path forward for the business model. | |
