Wheelersburg and Lancaster, Ohio | “We” have an outdoor wood burner at my main farm. It heats my parent’s house and hot water. I use it to heat a few other things as needed. I burn a bunch of wood. My dad is always wanting to help by taking the ash out. I’ve always discouraged him because he takes as much hot coals as ash. Just got to thinking, is what he’s hauling out to dump on hay fields and pasture what people are paying for called bio char? Maybe I’ve been thinking about this wrong all along. All I’m out by him taking coals out is some work and risk of him catching a field on fire. The latter has happened twice in ten years. |
