NW Iowa | This would have been in the 1968-1969-1970 range. I remember being a freshman or sophomore in high school, and having to go back home to round up calves that ran through the fences and got into road ditches and soybean fields. Old Frank Greten from Remsen would haul the cattle to our farm. We lived in Plymouth County on the Plymouth/Cherokee county line. Our neighbors had gotten cattle railed into Marcus for many years before we started getting ours. The commission firm Bass seems to ring a bell in my brain. If you were from the Marcus area, you may know the bachelor brothers I referred to. | |
